AENOR as a Standardisation Body
AENOR started its activities in 1986 when a Ministerial Order issued in Royal Decree 1614/1985 recognised it as the only approved body for carrying out standardisation and certification tasks in Spain.
Later, Royal Decree 2200/1995 of 28 December, which approved the regulations for Spanish quality and work safety infrastructure, ratified the naming of AENOR as the responsible body for developing Spanish standards (UNE Standards).
However, the association is not only active in Spain; AENOR is a full member and Spanish representative of International, European, and regional standardisation bodies (ISO, IEC, CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, COPANT), enabling Spanish experts to participate in all these fora.
